How to Cancel Your Audible Account

Last updated: June 13, 2016 - 12:19pm EDT

Do you feel that it's time for you to tune out of Audible?  Perhaps you'd like to explore some of the Audible alternatives that we mentioned.  Or, if you don't, that's okay too.  Whatever your reason, this tutorial will show you what to do to close the book (or audiobook, as it were) on your Audible membership and account.

To cancel your Audible membership, start by logging into your Audible account.  Then, move your mouse cursor over your name in the top menu and click Account Settings.  From there, click Cancel My Membership.  Provide a reason for why you want to cancel your Audible account, and then click Continue.

  4. Audible will remind you of the benefits that you will be losing if you choose to cancel your membership.  If you would still like to cancel your membership, scroll to the bottom of the screen, click on the drop-down menu that says "Select a Reason", and choose an explanation from the list as to why you wish to cancel your Audible membership.  Then click Continue.

  5. Audible may continue to give you special offers in case you have a change of heart and want to keep your Audible membership.  If you don't, just keep clicking Continue Cancelling until Finish Cancelling appears.  Then click that.

There!  Your Audible membership has been terminated.  Just remember that this doesn't delete any of the audiobooks that you already have on your account, so you can still access them if you want to!

How to delete your Audible account

Your Audible account is connected to your Amazon account, so you will have to delete your Amazon account if you want to delete your Audible account.

To delete your Amazon account, go to Amazon and log in, and then click Help.  Move your cursor over "Need More Help?" and click Contact Us.  From there, in the drop-down menus that appear, click Prime or Something Else, then Account Settings, then Close Account.  Finally, submit your request to Amazon customer service.

See our How to Delete an Amazon Account tutorial for more complete instructions on how to delete your Amazon account.

That's all there is to cancelling your Audible membership and account!  We're sorry to hear that things didn't work out between you and Audible (no pun intended), but hopefully, you'll find a similar service that you'll like even more!
