So far in our course on Care, we’ve told you about what Care.com is, whether it’s safe, legit, and reliable, and gone over how much it costs to use. To finish off our introduction to Care.com, we want to tell you about some of its pros and cons to help you decide if you want to sign up for an account.
Just a heads-up that some of the services we’re reviewing here have affiliate partnerships with us, so we may earn a commission if you visit one of them and buy something. You can read more about how this works at https://techboomers.com/how-to-support-techboomers.
More than one type of account available – You can sign up for a basic membership for free, or you can upgrade to a premium membership to access more features.
Profile verification – Caregivers can verify information on their profiles to let potential employers know they can be trusted. People looking to hire caregivers can view profile verifications to see if they can trust a potential employee, and they can request a background check to be safe as well.
Built-in messaging – Care has an internal messaging system that allows users to communicate with each other without the need to give out their personal email addresses. This helps to increase user safety, and protect your personal information from falling into the hands of people you won’t even end up hiring.
Multiple types of caregiving jobs – Whether you’re looking to hire a babysitter, senior caregiver, pet sitter, or gardener (among many other types of jobs), you can find someone for the job. If you’re a caregiver looking for work, there are lots of different types of jobs available to apply for.
Not all the features are free – For some of the features, like using their internal messaging system, you need a paid premium membership.
Paying to get paid – Caregivers have to have a premium membership to be able to apply for jobs through Care.com.
A lot of competition – If you’re a caregiver looking for work, there are usually going to be a lot of other caregivers applying for the same jobs. This can potentially make it difficult to get hired.
The bottom line: 8/10
We like that Care allows users to post and apply for a wide variety of caregiving jobs. There are ways for people to verify their profiles to help add to user safety. We also really like that there is a website as well as a mobile app available to use!
However, if you want additional features, you have to get a premium membership, unfortunately. And though it’s great to know that there are a lot of users, it adds to the competition of trying to get a caregiving job.
Overall, it’s a great site to use if you’re looking for a caregiving job, or if you’re looking to hire a caregiver. It is safe and easy to use, and has both free and paid membership options. We definitely think it’s worth checking out!
