Sometimes, it can feel like your free membership just isn't going to go far enough to let you determine whether Match.com is going to work for you. On the other hand, you don't want to shell out the money for a subscription to a service that you're not entirely sure you want to use yet. That's why you might want to look around for a free trial, which lets you use all of the same features that paid subscribers can for a limited amount of time (usually only 3 days or a week).
If you like all that Match.com has to offer or find someone whom you really click with, you can continue with a paid subscription. If not, you can cancel your free trial and try another online dating service.
Ah, yes, this is the million-dollar question, isn't it? If you don't want to wait for Match.com to send you an offer by email, there are three main ways to get a free trial on Match.com.
Click here for a link to the page where you can begin signing up for your weeklong free trial. You should see a screen like the one below. If you haven't signed up for an account on Match.com yet, you can start here by typing in and selecting your information. See our How to Sign Up for Match.com tutorial for more information.
We'll assume you already have an account on Match.com, but don't have a subscription plan yet. In this case, click Sign In beside "Already a Member?" in the top right corner.
Click on the text boxes that appear to type in your user name and password, respectively, and then click Continue.
The next screen will just show you some of the legal stuff surrounding this offer, like how you have to be 18 years or older, separated or never married, and not currently subscribed to Match.com. (Also, you can't have used a free trial before... obviously.) Just click Continue.
You will have to select a subscription plan in order to activate your free trial. See our How Much Does Match.com Cost article for a breakdown of the features that you get and the total costs of each plan.
Click the tabs at the top to choose between Basic or Bundle plans, then click on the button beside the one you want, and then click Continue.
If you chose a basic plan, you'll be asked if you want to add any of the additional features that you get with a bundle plan to your subscription.
Click the check boxes beside each feature to add or remove it from your subscription, then click Continue. You can also click No Thanks if you don't want any additional features.
Now here's a screen where you can enter your billing information. We'll assume that you want to pay with a credit card.
Click in each of the boxes highlighted in the first section above and type in or select (from left to right, top to bottom):
-- Your first name (as it appears on your credit card)
-- Your last name (as it appears on your credit card)
-- Your credit card number
-- Your credit card's security code (click the question mark if you need help finding this)
-- The month and year that your credit card expires
-- Your mailing code
When you're all set, click Subscribe Now.
The next page you'll see is just a confirmation of your subscription purchase. Congratulations! You now have a free 7-day trial that lets you communicate with your matches to your heart's content! Just make sure to cancel it before it expires, or else you'll have to pay for the subscription plan that you chose! See our How to Delete a Match.com Account tutorial for how to cancel a Match.com subscription.
If someone you know uses Match.com, you can get them to send you a free 3-day trial. Plus, if you buy a subscription after that, they get cool rewards, like gift cards to popular stores. Win-win!
Anyway, here's what YOU need to show THEM how to do in order to do it.
Go to www.match.com in your web browser and log in. Then click Invite Friends in the top-right corner of the screen (underneath the buttons for your profile and general settings).
If this is your first time using the referral program, you'll be taken to a screen like the one below. Click in each of the highlighted boxes and type in your first name, last name, and email address (the one you used to sign up for Match.com), respectively, and then click Continue.
When you get to this screen below, click in the first highlighted box and type in the email address of the person whom you want to send the free 3-day trial to (if you're the one showing someone else how to do this, this is where your email address goes!).
You can also click in the second highlighted box here and type a personal message to send to your invitees. Or if you want to keep the default message, that's cool too.
Make sure to click the check box highlighted here to put a checkmark in it. Basically, it's to confirm that you actually know the people whom you're sending these emails to, and you're not just someone trying to run a scam (for example, by sending these emails to fake accounts that you control, just so you can get free rewards).
When you're done, click Send Invite.
There! Your friend has done their part, now you can do yours. Look for an email from Match.com in your email inbox, and follow the instructions inside. Enjoy your 3-day free trial!
You can also get a 3-day free trial, among other things, by using Match.com promo codes. See our Match.com Promo Codes tutorial to learn how to find them and use them.
Anyway, those are some ways that you can get a free trial for Match.com!
