for Libraries

What is for libraries? for libraries is actually one of a number of group subscription plans (that we mentioned in our How Much Does Cost article) available to multi-user clients of Lynda, including businesses, schools, and nonprofit organizations.  It allows libraries to pay a flat subscription fee in order to allow any number of their patrons to access Lynda through the library for free.

What features do I get with for libraries?

  • You can manage who can access Lynda through your library by way of a library card ID system or similar setup.

  • Patrons can access Lynda through your library whether they’re at the library itself or not.  All that they need is an Internet connection.

  • Patrons can watch as many tutorial videos as they want, as many times as they want.

  • Patrons can download lesson-related files so that they can follow along with tutorial videos and practice their skills.

  • Patrons can search video transcripts for specific answers, bookmark specific courses and videos to get back to them later with ease, and earn certificates of completion for finishing courses.

Are there any limitations to for libraries?

  • Not all courses may be available.

  • The plan may be limited to your specific library, not your entire library network (though there is a different plan that you can use for this).

How to Reset Your Password

If you can’t remember the password to your Lynda account, or are having other difficulties logging in, you may want to try resetting your password.  As long as you still have access to the email account that you used to sign up, you should be able to get back into your account.  This lesson will show you how to do it.

To reset your password:

  1. Go to in your web browser and click Log In in the top-right corner.  When the log in form pops up, click Forgot Username or Password?

  2. On the next screen, click in the box labelled “Email Address” and type in the email address that you used to sign up.  Then click Send.  This will cause Lynda to send an email to you with a hyperlink that will allow you to reset your password.

  3. Go to your email account and log in.  Find the email titled “Reset Your Lynda Password” and click on it to open it.  Then, click the Reset Your Password button inside the email.

  4. You will be taken to a screen where you can reset your password.  First, click inside the box labelled “Choose New Password” and type in a new password that you would like to use to secure your account.  Note that it must be at least six characters long, and must include at least one letter and one number.  Then click in the box labelled New Password and type in a copy of the password that you just entered.  When you’re finished, click Submit.

There!  Your password is reset, and you can now get back to learning!  If you need some help with remembering your passwords, consider using a password manager program.  Our What is a Password Manager article will explain what they do and how they work!

How to Change Your Password

Your hard-earned money goes into helping you learn new things on, so you probably don’t want a stranger freeloading off your account.  Plus, you probably also wouldn’t want them to get a hold of any of your sensitive identity or financial information that’s on your account, either.  Granted, the chances of that happening are pretty small, but why let that chance be greater than it needs to be?  Here’s how to protect your account by setting it up with a stronger password.

If you need some tips on how to make an account password more secure, head over to our How to Make a Strong Password tutorial (here).

To change your password

  1. Go to in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click on your name in the top-right corner, and then click Profile.

  3. Under the “Log In Information” category, click Edit beside “Password”.

  4. Three new boxes will pop up.  Click in the one labelled “Current Password” and type in the password that you are currently using to protect your account.  Then, click in the one labelled “New Password” and type in the password that you want to use to protect your account going forward.  (Remember that, as you are told here, your password must contain at least six characters, with at least one letter and one number.)  Then, click in the box labelled “New Password (Confirm)” and type in a copy of the password that you just chose.  Finally, click Save.

That’s all there is to changing your Lynda password!  If you’re locked out of your account and need to reset your password instead, see our How to Reset Your Lynda Password tutorial instead (click next!).
