How to Reset Your Password

It happens to the best of us.  You try and try, but you can’t seem to remember the password for your account on  Or wait… what if your password is right, and someone else has used your account and changed it on you?

Hopefully, the latter situation will never happen to you (and it very rarely does in general).  But in either case, here’s how to reset your password if you need to get back into your account.

Resetting your password

  1. Go to in your web browser and click Member Sign In. sign in button

  2. On the next screen, click Forgot Your Password?

  3. Click in the box labelled “Match Account Email” and type in the email address that you used to sign up for Match.  Then click Send Email.

  4. Log into your email client and open the email from Match titled “Reset Your Password”.  Click the Reset Password button.

This will take you to a screen where you can reset your password.  Click in the box labelled “Enter New Password” and type in a new password that you’d like to use.  (If you need help coming up with a strong one, see our How to Make a Strong Password tutorial.)  Then click in the box labelled “Re-Type New Password” and type in a copy of the password you just entered.  Finally, click Reset Password.

How to Change Your Password

Chances are that you have quite a bit of personal information about yourself on Match.  It would be a shame if a troublemaker got into your account and stole it, or used it to impersonate you and lure people on fake dates.  While the chances of these things happening are thankfully rather small, as they are with any online dating website like Match or you can help to make them even smaller by securing your Match account with a stronger password. Changing your password

  1. Go to in your web browser and log in (if you haven’t already).

  2. Click the gear icon () in the menu across the top, and click Settings.

  3. Click Sign Up Information in either of the locations highlighted here.

  4. Since Match considers what you are about to view sensitive information, you will need to re-type your password.  Click in the box labelled “Password”, type it in, and then click Go.

  5. On the next screen, you’ll see the essential account information that you used to sign up for Match (blurred out here for privacy reasons, obviously).  Click Change Sign Up Info.

  6. Click inside the box marked “Password” and press the “Backspace” key on your keyboard to delete the one that’s there.  Then, type in the new password that you want to use.  Finally, click Continue.

3 tips for contacting customer service

1. Try your best to be patient when dealing with a representative from Match customer support.

Keep in mind that Match customer service probably gets tons of messages, calls, questions, and emails from other people like you, so you might have to wait a while to speak to someone. Try your best to be patient – it’s not their fault if they’re slow to respond.

2. See if you can figure out a solution to your issue yourself using’s online self-help system.

Check out the help center on to see if you can find information about your issue in their FAQ section. You might be able to solve your issue faster this way than trying to speak to a representative from Match. Help Center

3. Reach out to Match on their social media pages, like Facebook or Twitter, to get a faster response.

If you post a public message to Match on their Twitter or Facebook pages, you may get a response quicker than if you try emailing them or submitting a question online. This is because when your message is public, it looks bad on them if they don’t respond and help their customers. This is a good option if you need help quickly.

How to Change your Subscription

Say you want to pick a different subscription to get better value-for-money, or some extra features to power up your Match experience.  Or maybe you want to switch to a shorter subscription because you don’t think you’ll be using Match for much longer.  Here’s how you do it.

Changing your subscription

  1. Go to in your web browser and log in (if you haven’t already).  Click the gear icon (gear-settings icon) in the top-left corner, and select Settings.

  2. When you get to the “Settings” screen, click Subscription Status (in either place highlighted below).

  3. At the bottom of the screen that appears, click Choose an Additional Subscription Package.

  4. You’ll now see the subscription packages that you can choose from (see this tutorial for details about how much Match can cost).  Click the tabs at the top to choose between Basic or Bundle plans, then click the button beside the plan you want and click Continue. subscription plans

  5. If you chose a basic plan, you’ll be asked if you want to add any of the additional features that you get with a bundle plan to your subscription. subscription add-ons

    Click the check boxes beside each feature to add or remove it from your subscription, then click Continue.  You can also click No Thanks if you don’t want any additional features.

  6. You will now be taken to a screen where you can input your billing information.

    Click in each of the boxes in the first highlighted section above and type in or select (from left-to-right, top-to-bottom):

    – Your first name (as it appears on your credit card)
    – Your last name (as it appears on your credit card)
    – Your credit card number
    – Your credit card’s security code (click the question mark for help in finding it)
    – The month and year that your credit card expire
    – Your mailing code

    (NOTE: The small pictures below the highlighted area should automatically light up with your correct payment type, depending on the credit card number that you enter.  If they don’t, click the one that corresponds to the type of credit card that you use.)

    When you’re finished entering information, click Subscribe Now.

  7. The next page you’ll see is just a confirmation of your subscription purchase.  Congratulations!  Now, when your old subscription expires, your account will automatically transfer over to the new one, instead of renewing the old one.  Just make sure to remember how long your new subscription lasts so you can change or cancel it in time!
